• In process: Sit in on a free reading of a new film script called Niki Sweet Talk Moves — a “profoundly personal story” of a cynical investigative reporter who travels to the Arctic to meet requirements of her father’s will and uncovers an environmental scandal while there. The title pulls from Nikisuittuq, Inuktitut for the North Star or “never moves.” The script is the creative thesis screenplay of UNH Manchester adjunct professor Dana Biscotti Myskowski. It earned her an MFA in creative writing from Goddard College in January. • Speaking of college: The Anselmian Abbey Players finish up a production of Cole Porter’s Anything Goes. Porter’s musical comedy includes his standards “De-lovely” and “I Get a Kick Out of You.” See it Friday, April 11, or Saturday, April 12, at 8 p.m. at Saint Anselm College’s Dana Center, 100 Saint Anselm Drive in Manchester. Ticket costs range from $6 to $13. Rivier Theater Company presents The Brothers Grimm Spectaculathon by Don Zolidis, in which two narrators and a group of actors try to combine all 209 Grimm fairy tales. Tickets cost $5. • Raising those dollars: Alexandra Socha takes a break from Broadway, where the teen is a Spring Awakening cast member, to help raise money for Peacock Players. Socha is an alum of the youth educational theater program. Peacock’s improv troupe, Technical Difficulties, and musical theater vocal troupe, Spotlight, also entertain at the dinner and auction Friday, April 11, at 6:30 p.m., at Alpine Grove in Hollis. Without a Broadway star, but with 56 years of experience producing theater as a fundraiser, the Amherst PTA presents Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat Thursday, April 10, and Friday, April 11, at 7 p.m., as well as Saturday, April 12, at 2 and 7 p.m., and Sunday, April 13, at 2 p.m., at Souhegan High School. • Return of New Thalian: The Manchester-based community company has been laying low while dealing with their loss of mill space for storage, rehearsal and offices. But they are planning a fourth summer “Theatre in the Park” with two July weekends of The Wizard of Oz scheduled for Veterans Park in Manchester. To try out for the show, prepare 16 bars of a non-Oz musical or standard, and come in clothing you can dance in. Adults and high school actors audition Sunday, April 13, from 3 to 5 p.m. and Monday April 14, from 6 to 10 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church, 106 Lowell Road in Manchester.
