A Warhol film, and Dean Spiliotes at the Currier

• From women: The New Hampshire Women’s Caucus for Art is busy this week. Their “Signature 6x6 Exhibit” is expected to feature work by 37 artists on panels that are 6 inches by 6 inches. “6X6” runs from Nov. 14 through Dec. 18 at Interior Additions, 38 North Main St. in Concord. Pieces are priced at $66. Meet the artists at a reception Friday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 7 p.m. The Caucus also has their Juried Exhibit at Mill Brook Gallery and Sculpture Garden with work from 17 artists. The display is there from Nov. 14 through Dec. 24, with a reception Sunday, Nov. 16, from 1 to 5 p.m. Mill Brook is at 236 Hopkinton Road in Concord (226-2046, www.themillbrookgallery.com)
• Warhol on film: Concord is getting in on the action with Manchester’s Currier Museum of Art. Red River Theatres, the relatively new nonprofit movie theater in Concord, is screening Andy Warhol’s 1965 film, The Life of Juanita Castro, Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 6 p.m. Sharon Matt Atkins, the Currier curator for the museum’s special exhibit “Andy Warhol: Pop Politics,” will introduce the film and lead a discussion following it. According to Red River, it’s rare to watch Warhol’s films, because they are only available on 16mm. Tickets cost $5, although admission is free for Red River or Currier members. Back at the Currier, a talk with the New Hampshire Political Library on “Campaigning with Pop Art: A Discussion of Political Campaigns of the Late 20th Century,” is planned for Thursday, Nov. 20, at 4:30 p.m. Warhol’s portraits of political figures are on view at the Currier. The line-up includes political analyst Dean Spiliotes (NHPoliticalCapital.com). It’s free with admission. The Currier is at 150 Ash St. (www.currier.org, 669-6144) and Red River Theatres is at 11 South Main St. (669-6144).
• Opening up: Painter Steve Previte is opening his studio to the public Saturday, Nov. 15, and Sunday, Nov. 16, between noon and 5 p.m., at 112 Silver Lake Road, in Hollis. Previte will show his current oils, plus Giclee prints. Also talk to him about art classes. Call 465-2647 for details. Butter’s Fine Food & Wine, at 70 North Main St. in Concord (225-5995), is branching out with an “Evening of Art and Wine” Friday, Nov. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. And coming up next week, Manchester arts and cultural venues open their doors for the quarterly “Open Doors” Thursday, Nov. 20, from 5 to 8 p.m. Free trolleys are available between venues. • Apple in Manch: Not quite art itself, but the New Hampshire Institute of Art (623-0313 ext. 592) is celebrating the designation of its Camera Shop and Art Supply Store, at 77 Amherst St., Thursday, Nov. 20, from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Enter a raffle to win a new iPod Touch. NHIA students can buy Apple products for discounts, while the Apple location will also allow the public to try out some Apple products. Apple provided BFA students entering their senior year new MacBook Pro laptops as part of Apple’s new partnership with the school, according to a press release.
• Web help: Work on your Internet presence at the free workshop, “Creating a Website: Doing It Yourself or Outsourcing?” Tuesday, Nov. 18, from 10 a.m. to noon. It’s part of the Artist Entrepreneurial Workshops from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts, at 2½ Beacon St., Concord. Call 271-2789 to register.
