• Join a gallery: East Colony Fine Art is looking for artists to join the member-run gallery in Langer Place, 55 South Commercial St. in Manchester. See www.eastcolony.com or stop by for details. The deadline to submit work is Feb. 15.

• See work: Bill Earnshaw’s watercolor collages and acrylics and Karin Hovey’s watercolors are at East Colony in a show called “Peace in Our Hearts, Peace in Our World,” through Feb. 21. Meet them at a reception Saturday, Feb. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m. when East Colony also opens its Valentine show, “Looking for Love.”

• Soup for you: Help out the Community Caregivers of Greater Derry on Saturday, Feb. 7. During the Potter’s Bowl, from 5 to 8 p.m., you can pick a bowl to keep, donated by New Hampshire artists, and fill it with soup from local restaurants. Tickets cost $25. Simply the Best Entertainment provides the tunes at Windham Presbyterian Church, 1 Church Road in Windham (432-0877, www.comcaregivers.org).

• Valentine themes: Join the “Love tour: Romantic Couples in the Currier Collection,” at the Currier Museum of Art on Friday, Feb. 13, at noon. Their Family Saturday theme Feb. 14 is “Love is in the Air.” Family arts activities are scheduled between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. Those events are included with museum admission.

Couples can follow a “Love Tour,” with champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries at a table for two in the Currier’s Historic Court, Feb. 14 between 2 and 4 p.m. Tickets cost $70 for nonmembers and include the food and drink. The Currier is at 150 Ash St. in Manchester (www.currier.org, 669-6144 ext. 108).

• Fauna: Nashua Area Artists Association hosts “Wild About Animal Art” at their Gallery One in February. Meet the artists Sunday, Feb. 8, between 2 and 4:30 p.m. Portions of sales and donations go to the Nashua Humane Society. Gallery One is at 5 Pine St. Extension in Nashua (883-0603) and is normally open from noon to 5 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

• So many: More than 600 works were selected out of about 1,300 submitted by students in grades 7 through 12 for recognition in the Scholastic Art Awards of New Hampshire. They are exhibited at the Stockbridge Theater at Pinkerton Academy, Bypass 28 in Derry, through Sunday, Feb. 8, when ceremonies at 11 a.m. and noon close the show. Top regional work is sent to New York in mid February for national adjudication. Five New Hampshire pieces received American Visions Awards or “Best in Show” status, including Jaclyn Wood’s “Red Bicycle” and Tyler McCarthy’s “Self-Portrait” drawings. Both attend Manchester Central High School, and Josh Borge and Janet Soucy are their respective teachers.
