Manchester and Concord host gallery nights June 25

• Gallery walk/drive: Art Concord returns with eight confirmed participating galleries and more expected in this evening of exhibit openings and open houses Thursday, June 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. Those include Cole Gardens at 430 Loudon Road; Franklin Pierce Law Center Gallery at 2 White St.; NHTI-Concord’s Community College at 31 Institute Drive; Red River Theatres at 11 South Main St.; and Sulloway Gallery at 19 School St.
The League of NH Craftsmen’s Gallery 205 at 205 North Main St. exhibits its “Lifetime Achievement Awards Exhibition featuring the work of Vivika & Otto Heino and Mary & Edwin Scheier.” The two couples influenced the field of pottery in the 20th century.
Kimball Jenkins School of Art at 266 North Main St. shows Michael Garlington photography “Portraits from the Belly of the Whale,” and abstract paintings by Roger Goldenberg with a reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mill Brook Gallery and Sculpture Garden at 236 Hopkinton Road hosts its annual invitational outdoor sculpture exhibit, plus an indoor exhibit of contemporary paintings and traditional crafts, “First People of the Northeast.”
The Greater Concord Chamber of Commerce collaborates with galleries for Art Concord (concordnhchamber.com, 224-2508). The next one is planned for Aug. 20.
• Gallery trolley ride: Open Doors Manchester is also scheduled for Thursday, June 25, from 5 to 8 p.m. During this event, you can stop into art receptions or enjoy free admission to the Millyard Museum and SEE Science Center, both at 200 Bedford St.
A free trolley loops between venues. Langer Place at 55 S. Commercial St. was a happening trolley stop during April’s Open Doors; the Millyard building houses several studios (www.langerplace.com).
Other venues include Manchester City Hall’s Art on the Wall at City Hall Gallery, the MAA Gallery, Art 3 Gallery, Framer’s Market and Manchester Community Access Media at 540 N. Commercial St.

• Also opening: A “Meet the Artist – Josh Hutchins” reception starts just before Open Doors at UNH Center for Graduate & Professional Studies Thursday, June 25, from 4:30 to 6 p.m. His exhibit “Creative Photography” is at 286 Commercial St. on the fourth floor in Manchester (641-4313 or www.unhmgrad.unh.edu).
The New Hampshire Creative Club is scheduled to open its 21st annual exhibition Tuesday, June 23, with a reception from 6 to 9 p.m., at the McIninch Art Gallery at Southern New Hampshire University, 2500 North River Road in Manchester (629-4622, www.nhcreativeclub.org).
• Winner: Manchester oil painter Dee Lessard was recently named Manchester Artists Association’s “Artist of the Year.” Her work is sold in Denver and Chicago, and nearby at East Colony Fine Art in Langer Place (see DeeLessard.com). See one of her pieces at the Manchester Artists Association Gallery at 1528 Elm St. Lessard has volunteered for the MAA (Manchester-artists.org, 785-6437) for more than four years.
• Currier dads: It’s a busy week at the Currier Museum of Art, 150 Ash St. in Manchester (669-6144, www.currier.org). They celebrate Father’s Day Sunday, June 21, with a tour at 1 p.m., art-making from 2 to 3 p.m., and a special menu at the café featuring a Bloody Mary bar, specialty beers, hoagies and grinders. They also host their monthly “Drawing in the Galleries,” June 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. when patrons can use provided pencils and paper or bring their own to sketch among the artwork.
“Storytime in the Gallery,” is Monday, June 22, at 11:30 a.m., when Manchester City Library children’s librarian Karyn Isleb reads Move! by Robin Page and young patrons take a look at “Construction No. 195,” by José de Rivera. It’s recommended for ages 3 to 5, but all are welcome. Those events are included in admission, which is free for ages 18 and younger, and $10 for adults. (Everyone visits for free from 10 a.m. to noon Saturdays.)
• Moving: Cooperative gallery and teaching center Artistic Roots is closing its doors in Campton June 28, and moving to Plymouth where they reopen July 2 at 75 Main St. This means the 30 regional artists are holding an artwork moving sale at their Campton place, routes 49 and 175 (726-7101, www.artisticroots.com).
