• Sing with stars: Waiting for your big chance to share a stage with Broadway actors? Your chance is coming to Concord. Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway is a touring production featuring five stars from Andrew Lloyd Webber hits like Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Christ Superstar, and other shows like Les Miserables and Jekyll & Hyde.
Neil Berg’s 100 Years of Broadway visits the Capitol Center for the Arts on Friday, Feb. 12, at 8 p.m., and they will incorporate up to two “winners” and up to 10 “runners up” in the show. To audition, upload a 90- to 120-second video of yourself singing a Broadway tune to YouTube, MySpace or Facebook, and send a link by Friday, Feb. 5, at 3 p.m. Visit www.singingwiththebroadwaystars.com and select Concord, for instructions. A winner might get a short solo in a song Feb. 12, and runners up might be included in part of the ensemble for a number.
• Theater noir: George Hasker-Bouley’s new comedy Gumshoe Diaries, “a comic salute to the film noir movies of the 1940s,” comes to the West End Studio Theatre, 959 Islington St. in Portsmouth, produced by Carpe Diem, from Feb. 12 through Feb. 28. Hosker-Bouley and some of his actors were recently involved in a Music and Drama Company run of Judy’s Scary Little Christmas in Nashua, which is a finalist in various categories for New Hampshire Theatre Awards.
Gumshoe Diaries runs at 8 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays and at 7 p.m. Sundays, with a 2 p.m. show Feb. 28. Tickets cost $12 and $15. Call 978-683-7745 for reservations.
• Awarding: Speaking of, the eighth annual New Hampshire Theatre Awards show for professional and community theater is coming up soon. About 47 participating theater companies submitted about 60 shows for peer adjudication. (About 72 shows were submitted last year.) The awards night Friday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m., at the Palace Theatre (80 Hanover St. in Manchester, 668-5588) features performances from nominated shows and from the Palace (which abstains from competing), and multimedia presentations. Ticket costs range from $37.50 to $50, and group tickets cost $27.50.
• From London: Terry Pratchett fans, be advised that the National Theatre of London’s HD Broadcast series screens a premiere production of Nation, based on Pratchett’s novel, adapted by Mark Ravenhill. You can view the live Nation broadcast Saturday, Jan. 30, at 2 p.m., at the Peterborough Players, 55 Hadley Road in Peterborough (924-7585, www.peterboroughplayers.com). Or see a screening of Nation, Sunday, Feb. 7, at 2 p.m., at the Music Hall, 28 Chestnut St. in Portsmouth (436-2400, www.themusichall.org). Ticket costs range from $15 to $27.50.
In the play, set in 1860, “Two teenagers are thrown together by a tsunami that has destroyed Mau’s village and left Daphne shipwrecked on his South Pacific island, thousands of miles from home. Together they come of age, overseen by a foul-mouthed parrot, as they discard old doctrine to forge a new Nation,” according to a Peterborough Players press release. Also coming via satellite, a broadcast of A Prairie Home Companion, the public radio show hosted by Garrison Keillor from the Fitzgerald Theater in St. Paul, Minn., is shown Thursday, Feb. 4, at 8 p.m., at the Peterborough Players and at the Lowell Showcase Cinemas, 32 Reiss Ave. in Lowell, Mass. (978-551-0060). See an encore screening at Peterborough Tuesday, Feb. 9, at 8 p.m. ($18-$22).
• Youth audition: Youth from age 6 to 18 can audition to perform in a Peacock Players production of The Wedding Singer, a stage version of the film that starred Manchester native Adam Sandler, Monday, Feb. 1, or Tuesday, Feb. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. at 14 Court St. in Nashua.
