3/21/2013 - Nice to see the wub-wub starting to evaporate from the house scene, or at least giving us a rest from itself on this release, the second artist LP from Salerno, Italy DJ Guardino. The whole album blinks its eyes at the velvet-rope beach-dance scene, starting with a hookup with Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland on “What a Feeling,” wherein Rowland resurrects Donna Summer’s controlled exuberance as a logical adjunct to the Giorgio Moroder piano line. The neo-disco jacks up another notch on the Jordin Sparks-guested “Is This Love,” a swirling-fog vehicle that’s pretty much all hook. And so on and so forth, with the mononymed Mario singing along the triplet-hopping “Beautiful” and Mandy Ventrice pulling a female Bieber on shameless bubblegummer “Your Love Gets Me High.” Guadino eventually lets his hair down and embraces the dub in “Miami Penthouse,” a buzzy electro curveball placed in a great spot in the mix.
