3/21/2013 -  I’ve been a casual follower of these goth-stomp legends since 2005, when their Hau Ruck LP added “Free Your Hate” to my car stereo’s arsenal of stuff to crank to 11 when passing innocent civilians just trying to navigate a sidewalk. Every album since then seems to be a variation on that LP’s blueprint, a weird (and hole-filled) duality comprising a few songs worth of furious White Zombie ass-kickage that gets nulled out when second-banana singer Lucia wraps herself around those snaking fire-dance darkwave-vs-hardfloor joints that always make them sound like a bunch of newbies trying to be Skinny Puppy. The bad news is that there’s a huge amount of that mid-tempo cheese-demon electro-metal on this one, but the good news is that the songs themselves are mostly pretty good, probably the best I’ve heard from them since Hau Ruck.  Nothing really crazy-aggro for a change, but it’s cool. A-
