It’s a day of races.

The Dirty Paws 5K to support the Pope Memorial SPCA will kick off at 9 a.m. at the shelter (94 Silk Farm Road in Concord) and loop through the grounds of St. Paul’s School. Register online for the run/walk (for humans and dogs) at popememorialspca.org/dirtypaws5krun through Thursday, April 28, at 5 p.m.; onsite registration is also available on the day of the event. Registration is free for kids 13 and under and costs $25 for teens, $35 for 19+ in advance and $35 for teens, $40 for adults on the day.

Or run on the Londonderry Rail Trail to support the Aviation Museum of New Hampshire (27 Navigator Road in Londonderry; aviationmuseumofnh.org, 669-4877). The “Run the Rail Trail 5-Miler” starts at 9 a.m. at the museum. Registration costs $30 in advance and $35 on the day. Sunday, May 1

The Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (18 Highlawn Road in Warner; indianmuseum.org, 456-2600) opens for the season today from noon to 4 p.m.. Admission costs $9 for adults, $8 for seniors and students, $7 for children ages 6 to 12 and $26 for a family (two adults plus children).

Sunday, May 1

The Nashua Choral Society will present “Made for You and Me, Songs of America,” its free springtime concerts in Greeley Park (at the Bandshell, 100 Concord St. in Nashua) today at 3 p.m. (The rain date will be Sunday, May 15, at 3 p.m.) The lineup will include patriotic songs, folk songs, sea shanties and a tribute to those in the armed forces, according to a press release, which recommends bringing a lawn chair or a blanket.

The New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival is selling virtual tickets to a bingefest of the six-episode television showLabyrinth of Peace, set in Switzerland at the end of World War II. “Let’s assume for a moment that you are a dishonest man” — so starts the plan by Bialystock and Bloom to produce “the worst play ever written” and keep the backing money of their none-the-wiser investors. Things, of course, very much do not go as nefariously planned in the comedy musical based on the 1967 Mel Brooks movie. The Producers kicks off a four-week run at the Palace Theatre (80 Hanover St. in Manchester; palacetheatre.org, 668-5588) tonight with a show at 7:30 p.m. Showtimes are Fridays at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays at 2 and 7:30 p.m. and Sundays at noon through May 15. Tickets cost $39 to $46 for adults.

Thursday, April 21

Catch Lucas Gallo and Friends tonight at the Bank of NH Stage (16 S. Main St. in Concord; ccanh.com). The show starts at 8 p.m.; doors open at 7 p.m. Tickets cost $15 (plus fees).

Also at the Bank of NH Stage this weekend is The Senie Hunt Project, which will be performing Saturday, April 23, at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $18 (plus fees). Earth Day is Friday, April 22, but the New Hampshire Audubon’s Massabesic Center (26 Audubon Way in Auburn; nhaudubon.org) is celebrating today with a day of family-friendly activities including guided nature walks, bluebird nest-box building, animal presentations, storytime, crafts and more. Saturday, April 23

The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord (starhop.com) and the Mt. Kearsarge Indian Museum (18 Highlawn Road in Warner; indianmuseum.org) will hold an event called “Spemki Nib8iwi: The Heavens in the Nighttime” today at 7 p.m. Bring chairs for an evening of stargazing (the Discovery Center will provide telescopes), a campfire and storytelling; the museum will offer hot beverages. Admission is free.

The following day, Sunday, April 24, is Bittersweet Day at the museum, when they will present a day-long lineup of events focused on clearing the museum ground’s patches of the invasive plant bittersweet. See the website for details.

Calling all Abbott Elementary fans: Start the April vacation week (for some New Hampshire students) with some teacher humor live when the Bored Teachers Comedy Tour featuring a lineup of teacher comedians comes to the Palace Theatre (80 Amherst St. in Manchester; palacetheatre.org, 668-5588) tonight at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $30. The New Hampshire Fisher Cats continue their season opening slate of games at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in downtown Manchester with a game tonight at 6:35 p.m. The Fisher Cats faces off against the Hartford Yard Goats in games through Sunday, April 17. Game times are at 6:35 p.m. daily through Saturday and 1:35 p.m. Sunday. Special events include a magnet schedule giveaway tonight, fireworks and 90s night on Saturday night and kids run the bases on Sunday. See milb.com/new-hampshire for individual or season tickets. A new exhibit of works by artist Arghavan Khosravi, described by the Currier as surrealist paintings, opens today at the Currier Museum of Art (150 Ash St. in Manchester; currier.org). The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; admission costs $15 for adults, $13 for 65+, $10 for students, $5 for teens, and children under 13 get in free. From 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursdays everybody gets in for free as part of Art After Work, which today also features music by Ramez Gurung.

Thursday, April 21, is the first day to pick up molds for the Andres Institute of Art’s (106 Brookline Road in Hollis; andresinstitute.org, 673-7441) spring iron melt and membership drive. Register online by Saturday, April 30, at 2 p.m. and pick up molds April 21, April 23, April 28 or April 30. Then drop off the carved molds and iron casts will be ready in early May. The molds cost $40 with discount for members; memberships cost $50 for a single and $75 for a family.

Bob Marley, recently voted Best of the Best in the Best Local (-ish) Comedian category of Hippo’s Best of 2022 readers’ poll, will kick off a run of performances at the Palace Theatre (80 Hanover St. in Manchester; palacetheatre.org, 668-5588) starting today with a show at 7:30 p.m. Marley will also perform Friday, April 8, at 8:30 p.m. and Saturday, April 9, at 6 and 8 p.m. Tickets cost $39.50.

Today is the monthly free admission Saturday at the Currier Museum of Art (150 Ash St. in Manchester; currier.org) for all New Hampshire residents from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will also host a Creative Studio event from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., when participants of this family-friendly event can take inspiration from the new exhibition “Warhol Screen Test” to paint some pop art style works, according to the website.

The museum kicks off Membership Appreciation Week on Sunday, April 10, when members can receive special perks and discounts and get a preview tour of the Arghavan Khosravi exhibit that will open Thursday, April 14.

Discuss and watch the silent films of Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplin and Mack Sennett at a presentation by the Walker Lecture Series tonight at 7:30 p.m. at the Concord City Auditorium (2 Prince St. in Concord; theaudi.org). The event is free.

Get music and the art of Andy Warhol at Art After Work today from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Currier Museum of Art in Manchester. Admission is free (as it is all Thursdays from 5 to 8 p.m.) and Joel Cage (pictured) will be performing live. The Currier’s new exhibit, “Warhol Screen Tests,” opens today with 20 silent, black and white screen test films, according to currier.org. Other exhibits on display include “The Appeal of the Real: 19th Century Photographs of the Ancient World” and “WPA in NH: Philip Guston and Musa McKim.”

Thursday, March 31

Get nearly a month of movies when the New Hampshire Jewish Film Festival begins today with a screening of The Automat at the Rex Theatre in Manchester at 7 p.m. The festival runs through Sunday, April 10, with 16 films in all — 11 features, five shorts and four in-person screenings. Most of the movies will also be available virtually, either during the festival itself or during a bonus week, April 11 through April 24. Tickets start at $12 for individual screenings, or you can buy packages for screenings of all movies, virtual only ($118) or in-person and virtual ($130 for one person, $180 for two).
