Vanilla is a flavor superstar. When it’s not the spotlight of ice cream or macarons (like the treats from Savvy Sweets and Treats above and on the cover, photo courtesy Ashley Savoy), it’s making other flavors even better, as in the way it adds layers to the Robust Vanilla Porter at Great North Aleworks. John Fladd takes a look at this flavor that is anything but ordinary.
